On Monday, December 11, Liberty Hill ISD announced its newest school would be known as the Legacy Ranch Wranglers.

The school’s colors will be Colombia blue and navy blue, and the district is said to looking for a way to tie in gold into the color scheme.

Legacy Ranch becomes the second Wrangler mascot in the state, following the West Mesquite Wranglers, which opened in 1976.

How Wranglers Was Selected

Eighth graders at a nearby middle school were tasked with choosing the mascot and color pathway for the new school, set to open in 2024 for ninth graders.

The students had the option of three different mascots five different color combinations.

The color combos were:

  • Purple and black
  • Black and gold
  • Black and Vegas gold
  • Navy and gold
  • Colombia blue and navy

To get to Wranglers, the students were surveyed on three categories: cat nation, ranch themed or alliteration. Nearly 80 percent voted for cat nation. From there, a group of 45 students across different grade levels met with VLK achitects to whittle the options down.
